NOTE:  The late 1932 axle shaft was announced in the June 1932 Service News.  The      
early axle was discontinued and all production and replacement were switched to the    
late axle.  1925-1932 axle shafts can be interchanged by matching the nut, hub, wheel  
bearing and differential side gears to the axle shaft, and by modifying the grease     
seal.  The outside diameter of the side gears and the wheel bearing is the same for    
all.

NOTE:  1933 and later have a flanged end for the wheel.  No removable hub.             

On 1938 axles the ring groove for the axle lock is 0.235" from the inside end of the   
axle.                                                                                  
On 1939-1940 this distance is 0.266".                                                  

1933-1936 STD and 1937-1941 axles have an inner wheel bearing race pressed onto the    
shaft.  When the bearing surface on 1942-1954 axles becomes rough, the shaft can be    
machined to accept this same race.
