STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE GATHERING
The evening was warm and the sky was mostly clear on Monday, June 24th, as we left the school and proceeded to follow the leader (Bill Barker) through Bellevue
neighborhoods. Numerous people were walking along the streets or out in front of their homes and acknowledged our presence as we cruised by. As I drove I heard one girl say, "my dream car, my dream car, a 56 Chevy." Another girl with her replied, "that's not a 56 Chevy." I honked my horn and waved, well at least she knew it was a Chevy. We drove on a short distance to the Ling Shen Ching Tze Buddha Temple in Redmond. As all the cars circled in front of the Temple people standing outside waved as we drove by. From there we continued on to the picnic grounds at Marymoor Park. We pulled into Mary Moore to find, "surprise" lots of strawberries, shortcake, and whipping cream.
36 members and 12 vintage Chevrolets made this event. Those who attended were Bill & Sis Barker ('31 5 WINDOW SPORT COUPE), Walt Blair (modern), Don & Lynn Boltz (modern), Don & Sallie Comstock ('65 CORVAIR MONZA CONVERTIBILE), Jim & Gail Darby (modern), Jim Farris ('87 El Camino), Lee & Carol Folsom (modern), Tom & Carolyn Frankhouser (modern), Steve Grissom and his grand daughter, Riley ('64

Rick has a 1950 Chevrolet station wagon and is interested in getting some advice on beginning restoration. He will try to get his car running for our August meeting at the XXX.
The outstanding Strawberry Shortcake Dessert was prepared by Gail Darby. Thanks again Gail! Look below for a copy of her recipe. Thanks also to Bill Barker and Jim Darby for setting up the short tour from the school to Marymoor.
