JULY Birthday Celebration
Looking back at our records, Lee and I noted that in 1985, our first year on our records, the Club picnic #18 was held at the Folsom's. We had just moved into our yet incomplete new home, but our field was ready for a big picnic. Big it was. We had 36 Chevy's lined up around the field and if I remember correctly someone brought a volley ball net which was used and enjoyed. Bill Barker brought a kiddies pool for the children to enjoy. Happy memories!
The 1986 picnic was also held at Folsom's. Then the following years it was held : 1987 - Mud Mountain 1988 - Lake Meridian 1989 - Pattersonville 1990 - Mud Mountain 1991 - Snoqualmie 1992, Mud Mountain 1993 - Mud Mountain 1994 - Nolte State Park 1995 - Black Diamond 1996 - Johnson's in Poulsbo 1997 - LeMay's 1998 - no anniversary picnic - NW Meet July 1999 - Strampher 2000 - Snoqualmie Park 2001 - Johnson's in Poulsbo 2002 - no anniversary picnic - NW Meet Aug 2003 - Folsom's
Since that first picnic at our place we added a nice picnic shelter, and it is nice and shady in there even in the warm weather. Lee has mowed the field each year and finally we decided to add the necessary touch- the Flush Toilet in the woods :0)
We were looking forward to this 36th Anniversary and had a delightful time with those who joined us: Kowats came in their nice shiny red Modern van, bearing ice cream all wrapped in newspaper to keep it frozen. Scott Ostermeyer -former member - came in his beautiful 1969 Malibu Comstocks in their 1965 Corvair Convertible Warrens came in their 1963 Impala Convertible and their lovely daughter Wendy was with them Krassers came in their 1961 Corvette Roberts were in their 1941 Chevy In his 1954 Chevy Jim Martoza arrived, having just come back from a trip to Alaska. We had our Vintage 1978 Nova on the field and on the Nature Trail To Chevy Springs was parked a Tractor made out of a 1928 Chevy."
Then to our amazement along came one of our earliest directors, George and Jean Bennett. They were passing by our street and saw our VCCA sign and stopped to pay a little visit. It was so nice to see them.
The day was great, the food was great and the visiting was absolutely wonderful. The weather was really ideal for a picnic. I think I can safely say a good time was had by all. Thanks,
Carol Folsom
