Puget Sound Region VCCA Board Meeting Minutes January 13, 2005
The first Board Meeting of the Puget Sound Region VCCA was called to order at 7:30 PM by Co-Director Jerry Brownell at the home of Donna Onat on Thursday January 13, 2005. Members present were Jerry Brownell, Bob Helgeson, Donna Onat, Jim Martoza, Carol Folsom, Lee Folsom, Ana Maria Haley, George Haley, Dave Haddock, Betty Roberts, Dave Roberts, Sally Comstock, Don Comstock, and Jim Farris. Collectively the Board developed an agenda covering fifteen items the Club needed to address. This was followed by a discussion of each where responsibility for specific tasks where set. A combined listing follows: Northwest Meet - The Meet is less than seven months away. While much planning for this event has already been done, lots of work still needs to be accomplished. Meet Planning meetings for the year will begin again next month (February) at the Darby home. Donations for door prizes are needed. To date, Ana Maria has only six. Our goal is to have something for every registrant. Members are urged to bring their donated items to the regular meetings as soon as possible. Jim Martoza is working with Good Chevrolet and Anna and George have made contact with Fred Meyer and Office Depot. Banquet Entertainment - The Board agreed that additional entertainment beyond games was not needed at the banquet. The 2004 Spotlight Cars will be featured and time for mixing, along with conversation, will be provided. Prizes for games were discussed, Jim Martoza will be checking with the Darby's and Barker's. It was agreed that the Club would provide cookies for desert. Sally Comstock will coordinate. Jim Farris volunteered to develop a special project for the evening. Door Prizes for Club Store - Club store raffle items are needed. This need conflicts with the requirements for the Northwest Meet, as well as the Banquet. This triple need puts pressure on members. It was agreed that we would all have to encourage member's participation in securing items from all possible sources. Ana Maria is collecting them for the Meet, Dave Roberts for the Club Store. Historian - The Board decided that responsibility for Club Historical records would rest with the Historian position. All Club photo albums, old meeting minutes and inventories of other Club owned materials would be maintained. Tour Suggestions - Tours for the year were discussed with a number of suggestions expressed. Some ideas included; The West Seattle Steel Mill, Langley History Tour, HCCA Breakfast Tour, Tacoma Industrial Area and Train, Museum of Flight, LeMay's, GM Picnic, and combined tours with other old car clubs. Don Comstock, George and Ana Maria Haley, tour directors for the year, would like to hear of additional suggested venues from the membership. Club Meetings - Jim Martoza has developed and identified Club Meeting topics for the coming Year. January will feature Wheel Pin Striping; February, The annual Auction; March, Photography; April, Factory Tool Identification; May, Old Car Insurance; June, Pre-summer desert and social; July, Birthday Picnic/Potluck; August, Northwest Meet and XXX; September, BBQ; October, DOL; November, Products that work, December, Christmas Party. Member expertise and assistance with any of these is solicited. Sunshine - Donna Onat has volunteered to handle this function for the Club. A card will be sent to members who are sick or need to know we care. She will need information from members identifying those in need of a card. Annual Report - The annual report for National is underway. It includes a list of new officers, charter renewal fee of $25 and a roster of members. Jerry will mail it before the January 31 deadline. Monroe Swap Meet - Our Club will participate in the work force for the Seattle Swap Meet at Monroe on the weekend of May 13-15. This is one of our major fund raising projects. The Club receives $10 an hour for every hour worked. Ana Maria Haley will coordinate our effort again this year. She will have volunteer sign up sheets at the January Banquet. By-Laws - Each year our By-Laws are reviewed. Jerry appointed a committee composed of himself, Jim Martoza and Don Comstock to review them and present suggested changes or amendments to the membership. Portland Swap Meet - The Board agreed the Club would not sponsor a booth this year at the Swap Meet the first weekend of April. Treasury - Sally reported that the Club treasury was solvent. Specific details will be given at regular Club meetings.
Jerry Brownell thanked Donna Onat for her hospitality and refreshments. The next Board Meeting is scheduled for April 14, 2005 at Jim Farris' house. The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 PM.
Respectively submitted, Jim Farris, Secretary
