This month glove box idea came from activity at the end of the Mount Rainer tour in my work shop. After everyone got full of food the men wandered down to the shop where I started my '31 Chevy so all could listen to a strange noise in the engine. The first thing Lee Folsom ask for was a hose so he could isolate the noise. I gave him a stethoscope instead. As you place the end of the stethoscope on different parts of the engine the noise gets loader as you get close to the point of origin. You can do the same with a hose only you just have one ear involved instead of two as with a stethoscope. Doesn't have to be anything fancy like a Doctor's but it does the same job only with an engine. So if you don't already have one, that could be another Christmas gift idea for the mechanic in the family.
Bob Stamnes reports he was trying to make a compression test on his '26 and found it difficult to do with the 7/8 inch plug hole. Lee Folsom found an insert in a head he had that reduced the hole size to fit a more modern plug. This made the job a lot easier. Bob has the insert for anyone to use if they face the same problem.
