A Discussion Group is Formed for '25 and '26 Touring Owners
As many of you know, MG and I purchased a '26 touring in March 2007. I quickly realized that I was going to need the support of others, both encouragement and technical support, to complete this car. Our car lacked floors, a top, seat upholstery, top bow supports, etc, and I didn't have a clue as to what many of these should even look like. The Zeigler garage work party took place about this time. John and Dot have a very complete, original, unrestored touring. Jim Farris knew of my needs and encouraged me to get a group of the touring owners that were there together at a break to look at Zeigler's car and compare notes. Jim Farris, Dan Johnson, Roger Orness, John Zeigler and myself gathered around and were soon involved in discussions comparing the various cars we owned. I found this very interesting and found others also were interested in exchanging information on our cars. This was the beginning of an email discussion group on '25 and '26 chevrolet touring cars.. This group now includes John Zeigler, Dan Johnson, Bob Stamnes, Roger Orness, Rod Mc Carthy, and Tom Lauderback of the Puget Sound Region, Bob Hughes of Grants Pass, OR., and Jim Farris as supporting technical expert. Other VCCA members with tourings are welcome. We anticipate this group will expand further. Discussions have included, differences between the cars, numbering of these cars, upholstering, tops, oil pumps, etc., etc. The benefits include, sharing knowledge, sharing experiences, sharing sources of information, finding parts, and being able to see and measure very original cars as patterns for those incomplete cars. This could even lead to some discounts on ordering items. Each member of this email group brings something to the table because some have resource documents, some have prior restoration experience, some have very original cars, some have incomplete cars, some are in the middle of restorations and others have completed restorations. Also, each participant comes from a different background, i.e. mechanic, machinist, maintenance engineer, woodworking, civil engineering, etc., each bringing a different prospective to this discussion group. The common bond is the desire to help each other and to see more chevies on the road. Enthusiasm is catchy!! Bob Stamnes rstamnes@yahoo.com
